A very successful coffee morning was held last Thurday at the community centre to raise funds for Marymount Hospice in Cork. This annual event raised over €700 which will go towards the new hospice centre. As of Sept 18th St.Patricks Marymount has moved to Curraheen near Ballincollig at a cost of €58m half of which will have to come from fundraising efforts such as this “coffee morning”.
A very special word of thanks to Eilis O Brien for organising the event and to her merry band of helpers who baked cakes, supplied sandwiches, jams etc., made tea and coffee and served the many passers-by who ambled in for a cuppa and a chat throughout the day. Also to all who donated money to this very worthwhile cause – thank you.

We will have new residents in the village this weekend when some young Mallard ducks will be introduced to the picnic park. Our thanks to the local CES workers who constructed the holding pen where the ducks will stay while aclimatising to their new home. It is hoped that parents will bring their children to feed the ducks once they are released and that dogs will be kept on a leash at all times in the park.
The above scheme is now finished and we can proudly say that the debt burden has been reduced from €90,000 to €80,000 – yes we received just over €10,000 by the time all scrap was collected. The scrap iron itself came to € 8,900 with the remainder made up of copper cylinders / batteries / aluminium etc.
Once again a big thank you to our collectors and especially our donors.
