A wonderful site to visit is your "Welcome to Castlelyons Parish".
A very fond and particular greeting to Peggy Verling from all the Holligan family of Margaret, Mary, Patricia (Sr) and myself, Bill, the youngest of the crowd.
I have a great interest in our family history and the Verlings indeed shared two priests in Australia, Mon Verling in the late 19thc early 20th, and Patrick Verling back in the 1860's in what we called then the wilds of Gippsland.
Peggy, lots of love to you, and it was great to see you in recent photos on your great parish site.
We shall send you photos of our 50th wedding celebration Aug 29th and this will include Margaret, Mary, Pat (Sr) RGS Maureen (Sr Florence SJGS and the rest of the wider tribe.
KInd regards to you, and best wishes to all your parish community, and to your own family.
God love you, Bill and Lorna Holligan Melbourne

Hi. I am trying to trace some relatives and would appreciate any help. My grandmother was a lady called Margaret Stafford, from Ballinaroone, Ballyduff, Co. Waterford. Her mother was Kathryn Riordan from Castlelyons and I would be most anxious to get any details of this lady. Kathryn Riordan married John Stafford aproximate date 1865/70. I understand that their details could be in Lismore. but if you could assist I would be very pleased. Thank you.

What a great site. I believe my ancestors may have come from Castlelyons Parish before moving to America in the 1860s/1870s. I really enjoyed reading the history of the area. If anyone has any information on surnames of Kenny, Flemming, Hoare (Hor) or Smith from the Castlelyons or Conna area of County Cork, I would love to hear from them. Thank you!

wel done to all involved in putting together this fine web site for Castlelyons
Anne Hegarty let me know about the site, it's great! My mother, Catherine Collins, was born in Ballyoran in 1920, and emigrated to the States in 1946 to marry my father. Both have passed away in the last few years. It will be nice to return to this site for news, and I hope to get back to Ireland soon. Please post more census information, and whatever other documents are available and accessible for family history. Congratulations on the website and good luck!
Helllo. Since discovering my great great grandfather , John McCarthy, was born in Castlelyons, I have reviewed alll the pictures, videos, and information about this lovely town I could find on the internet. I am planning on visiting in the spring of 2012 and was hoping to learn more about the town and make contact with some of the McCarthys who have deep roots in the town. Perhaps there are McCarthys still living in Castlelyons whom I share a line with?
Thank you.
Thank you.
