About Our Club : Drama and entertainment is to Castlelyons what water is to the River Bride. With a proud and inseparable relationship with the stage, the Parish abounds in Talent and spreads its origins back to the 1940’s . At one stage there was three Drama Groups in the Parish , one in Castlelyons, Britway and Coolagown. We are very fortunate that this inheritance lives on today in the Barrymore Players Drama Group, a sub-committe of the Community Council, who have produced numerous three act plays. Through the years many a story has been told through the medium of the stage from farce to comedy to tragedy and for quite a a period of time drama was swapped for light entertainment which took place in the Spring and was called Spring Fever. This ran for many years and was a huge success and staging extra performances was the rule rather than the exception. The Barrymore Players which was revived in 1997 is going from strength to strength and now hosts a one-act Drama Festival in November, A Panto in December and a three -act play in early March. Castlelyons as always has an abundance of talent which keep re-enventing itself, with new members , producers and directors continually being found and while this continues the stage is set for many a fine productions in the future.
