About Our Association:
The purpose of the Parents’ Association (PA) is to provide a structure through which the parents/ guardians of pupils of Castlelyons National School can work together for the best possible education for their children.

The PA will work in co-operation with the Board of Management, Principal, teachers and students in accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1998.

Aims and Objectives:

The aims and objectives of the Parents’ Association of Castlelyons N.S. are as follows:

    • The Parents’ Association hopes to help all parents feel they have a part to play in the school and a contribution in helping to make their child’s years in the school a positive time in their life.
    • To represent the interests and views of parents of children attending the school. To inform parents of developments in Education and in Castlelyons N.S.
    • To foster cooperation and promote good relationships between parents and the Principal, Teachers and Board of Management.
    • To assist with extra curricular activities.
    • To help with the provision of extra equipment and teaching aids through fund-raising events.

The PA Represents You and Your Child. Get Involved!
Becoming involved in the PA is an excellent way for you to play an active role in your child’s education and personal growth at Castlelyons N.S. The PA Committee invites you to join in the PA’s endeavours, to make our children’s experience at Castlelyons N.S. as enriching and rewarding as it can be.

All parents/guardians of Castlelyons N.S. students are automatically members of the Parents’ Association. If you have not already supplied your contact details to us, give same to any Committee member for inclusion

       •   Be added to the PA text service, which is the easiest and best way to keep up-to-date on PA news and events;
•
Let the PA know whether you can volunteer, and indicate the volunteer opportunities you are interested in.

Who is on our Committee?

As well as our elected committee (see table above), there is a large number of other parents who support meetings, volunteer for fundraising and events.

Attending meetings:

Meetings are designed with your needs in mind. Attendance will enhance your understanding of issues that directly affect your child.

Committee meetings are usually held on first Tuesday of the month in the school from September through to June, with at least nine meetings a year. Committee meetings generally start at 8:30 pm and the Parents’ representative on Board of Management as well as school principal, Mr de Roiste will also be in attendance.

It is important to remember that this is not all about work – we do have fun too!
