Hello from the United States. I am the 4th William Kent in my direct line, researching our origins in Castlelyons.
We believe we represent the "Senior Line" of the Kents of Bawnard. My ancestor, William Kent (born c. 1826), was the eldest son of James Kent. He was transported to Australia on the Havering in 1849 following the 1848 uprising. His younger brother, David Kent, remained at Bawnard and was the father of the 1916 patriots.
Our branch eventually moved from Australia to America, where we have followed the Kent name for generations—I am looking to connect with anyone familiar with the pre-1848 history of the Bawnard holding or descendants of the Edmond Kent branch.
